Combatives
The other side Our Combatives curriculum is designed to be quickly learned and easily recalled in high stress situations, focusing on gross motor skills and simplicity, and also on eliminating unnecessary movements. We understand that no technique works a hundred percent of the time, we teach our students to utilize their basic survival instincts making it much more natural than many traditional martial arts. Everything we teach in these courses is based on the principles of awareness and avoidance with a strong emphasis on proper use of force. Our goal is to instill a mindset rather than simply teach a skill. Learn more about awareness and avoidance on our "home" page.

Practical Self-protectionOur Self Protection courses are a basic introduction to combatives, designed to instill a mindset first of all, and to equip participants with practical techniques that could save their lives in an unavoidable confrontation.
Self protection is about first being aware and secondly, practicing avoidance. These elements will prevent most physical confrontations from ever taking place. This is NOT a martial arts class. This course is by no means comprehensive due to the short duration, however our combatives training is still very rigorous and our students come away with a heightened sense of awareness and a better understanding of violence. Classes are kept relatively short due to the intense nature of the training. Topics covered include- - The four layers of Awareness - Practical Avoidance - Boyds OODA Loop - Legal and ethical use of force - Combative mindset - Hard skills (strikes, kicks, gouges etc.) |
Pointy Stuff We created Pointy Stuff to expand on the criminal constants we teach in our Self Protection course- Criminals operate in numbers, they like to use ambush or deception, and there is generally a weapon involved. We do not recommend Pointy Stuff for the faint of heart. There will be a high number of repetitions and bruises involved.* There will be a lot expected of you, but you can expect to learn a lot about how you respond to a threat, how well you can take a punch and prevail, and how to apply your combative skills in a live environment against pointy stuff, bludgeons and multiples. *As in all of our courses, safety is paramount. You won’t be injured in training, but be prepared for short term pain. |
